Tolerability of Cerazette
Cerazette is generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported undesirable effects associated with Cerazette are bleeding changes, which are common to any method of progestogen-only contraception.1,8–12 Counselling women to expect changes in their bleeding pattern with progestogen-only contraception increases their likely acceptance and compliance.1
Other commonly (≥ 1 in 100 women) reported undesirable effects in the clinical trials with Cerazette were:1
- Acne
- Altered mood
- Breast pain
- Headache
- Libido decreased
- Nausea
- Weight increased
As with other hormonal contraceptives, there are warnings for use and interactions with other medicinal products, which may lead to breakthrough bleeding or contraceptive failure.1 Please refer to the Summary of Product Characteristics for a full list of undesirable effects and adverse events that may be associated with Cerazette use.
Adverse events should be reported. Reporting forms and information can be found at www.yellowcard.gov.uk.
Adverse events should also be reported to MSD Drug Safety Department on 01707 363773
