Acceptability and compliance
The level of subjective side effects a woman experiences can be a major factor in determining whether or not she will continue to take her contraceptive as prescribed.
- Headache, breast pain, nausea and oedema are known side effects of oral contraceptives, and these are generally related to the estrogen dose of the pill.5
- While these side effects may also occur with progestogen-containing pills, their frequency may be reduced or ameliorated by taking an estrogen-free pill. For more information click here.5
- With regards to possible bleeding changes, counselling women as they start on Cerazette will help them to expect and monitor changes. This may in turn help to ensure or improve their compliance.5
- For women taking Cerazette for contraceptive protection Cerazette may offer benefits to improve painful periods. For more information, click here.5
