Who can use Cerazette?
Cerazette is suitable for use by many women.
Cerazette is not just the most widely prescribed progestogen-only pill, it is also the second most commonly used oral contraceptive in the UK.
Cerazette may be particularly useful for use by the following groups of women:
- Women who are unwilling or unable to use estrogen-based methods. The latter may be due to lifestyle factors such as smoking while over the age of 35 years or having a body mass index of greater than 35 kg/m2.
- Women who are dissatisfied with their current method of contraception such as those who experience estrogen-related side effects (e.g. headache, breast tenderness, nausea and oedema).
- Women who are breastfeeding.
- Women over 40 years of age.
Adverse events should be reported. Reporting forms and information can be found at www.yellowcard.gov.uk.
