Cerazette (desogestrel) and your periods

Because Cerazette is taken every day, and there is no pill-free week, your bleeding patterns may be different from what you are used to.

Bleeding changes

  • Some women will have infrequent bleeding or no periods at all.
  • Others may experience more frequent or prolonged bleeding that requires sanitary protection.
  • Over time, bleeding tends to become lighter and less frequent in some women.

Use the Diary Card to make a note of how your bleeding changes with Cerazette. If you experience particularly heavy or prolonged bleeding, please consult your doctor or family planning trained nurse.

If your periods stop

  • There should be no need to worry.
  • Some women experience no bleeding while taking Cerazette.
  • It does not mean that Cerazette is not working.

If you have taken your pills correctly and have not had a stomach upset or taken any drugs that may affect how Cerazette works then it is unlikely that you are pregnant. Continue to take your pills as normal, but ask your doctor or family planning trained nurse for further advice.
